FERRY TO ISLAY

Approximately 20 minutes from Kennacraig, the Caledonian MacBrayne's ferry terminal for the crossing to the beautiful island of Islay


HILL WALKS

THE VILLAGE OF TARBERT

The village of Tarbert is situated in the north of the Kintrye Peninsula. The village is 38 miles from Campbeltown and 48 miles from Oban. South of Tarbert takes you down towards the Mull of Kintyre.

The village is well served with shops, hotels and restaurants. The village has a 9 hole golf course, an all weather tennis court, facilities for loch and sea fishing and various forest and hill walks. From the East Pier in the village you can make the 20-minute ferry journey across Loch Fyne to Portavadie on the Cowal Peninsula.

The islands of Arran, Gigha and Islay all have ferry terminals a short bus or car journey from the village. North of Tarbert takes you to Mid-Argyll where the Picts established their foothold in Scotland.

Tarbert Castle and its grounds are beside Petersville. Tarbert Castle, run by the Tarbert Castle Trust, is well worth a visit.

Golf Courses: Tarbert golf course is only 2 miles from the village, situated above the West Loch. Additionally the Kintyre peninsula offers a range of other courses at Carradale, Southend and the famous Machrihanish.

Travel: Tarbert is also well situated for visiting nearby towns and villages such as the picturesque town of Inveraray. Oban is just over an hour away and has ferries to Mull and Iona. Tarbert is also near to Skipness with its beautiful beaches and castle. Historic Kilmartin Glen with its Bronze Age burial mounds, museum and visitor centre is only 40 minutes away.
